They say acting is one of the scariest adventures you can take: it's also one of the most thrilling. Acting from the Heart and Head is a dynamic, invigorating class designed to help students access their greatest force and freedom. Working on monologues and scenes, the class focuses on several aspects of the actor's process: grounding and trust, imagination and experimentation, characterization, script analysis, partner work, and improvisation. Students will learn to find and trust impulses, lose inhibition, and make bold choices. And...it's fun!

*This is a scene-study class for actors at an intermediate/ advanced level, prior enrollment in Acting 1 not required.

MOVEMENT WORKSHOP: How to Waltz, Fly, and Die Convincingly and Other Secrets of Stage Movement

THIS CLASS HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

DIRECTING FOR THE THEATER

Sundays 3-6pm
February 1-April 4
Instructor: Mark Jackson
Tuition: $300.00

The theater director's primary task is to deal with people in time and space. Through a combination of practical physical exercises derived from Viewpoints Technique, Meyerhold's Biomechanics, and director Mark Jackson's own ensemble-oriented approach to theater making, this class will explore the process of collaborating with actors on a text and dealing with the expressive relationship between time and space in staging a play. Actors, dancers, writers, and directors are invited to attend. All participants should come prepared to move, speak, and make theater.
