IMPROVISATION WORKOUT

April 7-11, 2003
Monday-Friday 9am-4:30pm
Ages 7-17


Join us for a fun and exciting week of acting, movement and voice classes all in the spirit of exploring and developing our improvisational skills. In the mornings, actors will take technique classes with Bay Area professionals in acting, directing and movement, and in the afternoon, they develop an improvised play in our playmaking Performing Arts Workshop. The final hour of the day is our Improv Workshop: short form, long form, games and more.

STAGE COMBAT

April 14-18, 2003
Monday-Friday 9am-4:30 pm
Ages 7-17


This week, we will explore acting, movement, voice and the art of kicking butt, in a fun and safe environment that fosters mutual respect. Actors will take technique classes in the morning (Acting, Voice, Movement, Improv), with Bay Area theater professionals and create an original play in our afternoon Performing Arts Workshop. The final hour of the day will be devoted to a Stage Combat Workshop with camp director and certified Actor Combatant Dave Maier: Jabs, punches, hair-pulls, falls and more. Come have fun with us over Spring Break!

Mission
Our mission at the Julia Morgan Center for the Arts is to engage the artist within each of us and apply the principles of aesthetic education. In the Kaleidoscope programs children and teens are taught by professional teaching artists who incorporate artistic training with fun and rigorous exercises and creative experiences.
