This program runs from June through August each year, and has concluded the 2000 session.
Check Kaleidoscope for next summer's information.

OVERVIEW

Our mission at the Julia Morgan Center for the Arts is to engage the artist within each of us and apply the principles of aesthetic education. At the performing arts school we provide children, teens and adults with classes by professional teaching artists who incorporate training for the actor with fun and rigorous exercises and theatrical experiences.

* The JMCA's Summer Performing Arts Camp will consist of comprehensive training for the student artist with both full-day (9-3) performing arts programs and special afternoon workshop options 3:15-5:30 pm. Before and after camp "extended care" will be offered at an additional fee.

* All of our programs are open to new and returning students from grades 3-12 (entering grade in September 2000).

* Each two week session is new and different and will focus on providing students with fun and challenging acting, singing, movement and dance studio experiences.

* All of the sessions progress sequentially - building in complexity and scope.

* All students will take our "core acting" class which will focus on teaching students the fundamentals of acting. Additional classes in our summer program may include: improvisation, physical comedy, musical theatre, world dance, movement, scene study, audition (monologues/cold reading), and singing.

* The 9-3 session will include 3 different 90 minute classes which will run daily (Monday-Friday) for 10 class sessions. From 3:15-5:30 our summer workshop options will include our musical theatre performance class program, world dance workshop, and a recreational swim/craft/play options.

* A final in-class demonstration will occur Friday afternoon at the end of each 2 week session, and will include short highlights from the classes from the session. Parents, friends, and family are cordially invited to attend the demonstration.
